| 2009 Reeths-Puffer Marching Band presents:

The Reeths-Puffer High School Marching Band production for the fall of 2009 is titled “The Bucket List” and is loosely based on the movie of the same title. This show will take you on a journey through the last months of a terminally ill man’s life as he crosses things off his own list of things that he wants to do before he “kicks the bucket.”
The production opens with the guard skydiving into a field that is set up to look like the main character’s (Carter Johnson) desktop. The main props are 2 large tarps; one that is painted to look like the list Carter wrote when he was in college and the other to look like the list that he wrote after he found out he had cancer. You will also find on Carter’s desk; family photos, a pencil cup, an architect’s scale, and several wads of paper (abandoned lists).
Reeths-Puffer’s “Bucket List” progresses through a series of events depicting: Carter’s “young man’s” list, his more mature 2nd list, and then through the last days of his life and the subsequent fulfillment of his dreams. This show will take the audience on a roller coaster ride of emotions, hopefully thrilling and emotionally connecting with all that see it.
The contemporary wind literature that will be used in this production provides a wonderful palette of possibilities for musical expression. The compositions chosen for our 2009 production include: Radiant Joy by Steven Bryant, Avenue X by Jonathan Newman, Strange Humors by John Mackey, and Yosemite Autumn by Mark Camphouse. |
