The 2007 Marching Band Show - GENERATION i |
The 2007 Reeths-Puffer High School Marching Band
production for 2007 is titled “GENERATION i.”
This show is based on the lives of the current
generation of young people, their interactions, their
hopes, their fears, and their unrelenting energy.
The title “GENERATION i” came from 2 sources,
both conceptually tied to information technology. The
first source being the flood of “i” products in
the market today. This is the generation of the “iPod,”
the “iPhone,” the “iHome,” . . . and just about
anything you can think of. The second source is Bill
Gates, who in 1999 coined the phrase “Generation i” when
he was referring to the first generation that will
growing up with the internet. So, the title “GENERATION
i” aptly describes this generation as the
Information Generation. The show is a journey through
the lives of teens today. Information technology plays
a big role in the lives of this generation and it will
also have a big role in our production.
The music used in the show will include some well known
melodies as well as some original music. The
introduction to the show is the Children’s hymn “Red &
Yellow, Black & White.” John Lennon’s “Imagine” is
presented as a lush ballad. There is even a brief
moment that features Edgar Winter’s “Frankenstein.”
Glueing together this wide palate of musical styles are
the original compositions of Scott Boerma: “GENERATIONi,”
“YELLO~VATED,” and “iRAGE” |
