6th GRADE BAND

The second year of band -- so much more will happen! The Reeths-Puffer 6th grade band continues to be three days a week in like instrument classes, using the Blue Book II of the Standard of Excellence. However, we do more performing this second year. We share a Holiday Band Concert with the Middle School Bands in December, along with a school wide Holiday Assembly Concert the week before school lets out for the holiday break. In the spring we really get busy -- we attend the Band-O-Rama at the RPHS Arena, we tour all the Elementary Buildings in April encouraging the next year of band students. The 6th grade band also performs in the RPI Spring Concert. Private Lessons are always available to students. Students have the opportunity in 6th grade to audition for scholarships to attend Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, as well as audition to possibly be placed into one of the Middle School Concert Bands. Students that will be in 7th grade band next year are also invited to travel with the RPMS Bands on the great end of the year trip to Cedar Point!

6th GRADE NEW CREW BAND CLASS

This class was developed to offer the opportunity for any 6th grade students that did not begin band in our usual 5th grade program. Students are in the New Crew class, meeting at the same time as the regular 6th grade band time, but receiving beginning instruction --sort of a "fast track" class. They will be expected to work very hard at home and in the three day a week class during this first semester. At second semester they are moved into the regular 6th grade band. Private lessons are expected and available for these students entering band through this great opportunity. The New Crew students will perform in all the same concerts as the regular 6th grade band class. Instruments available to begin in the New Crew are -- flute, clarinet, cornet, trombone, these students play out of the Standard of Excellence Red Book I.
