Band Parent Mentor Program
Hello Everyone,
I have agreed to chair the mentor program for the upcoming 2008-2009 band parents. I am sending this out in hopes of getting some of you on board this program. When I began helping last year I felt somewhat overwhelmed and at times confused as to what to do and/or where to go for help. It is hoped that by providing each new parent with a contact we can alleviate some of the anxiety that many have expressed when coming into this wonderful program.
I am attaching the list of
incoming freshmen and their parents to this email. If you have a desire
to become a mentor, take a look at the list and see if there is someone you
might already know. Let me know who you have chosen and then make contact with
that person. Ask them if they have any questions and whether they have received
the information on the mandatory New Member Parent Meeting. I can attest to the
fact that not all students bring all notices home. ![]()
If they don't know about the meeting let them know about it (I am attaching a copy of the notice Mr. Hodson sent out, so you can send it to the new parent if necessary). If at all possible try to be at that meeting for the new members to introduce yourself.
If you have any questions or ideas about this program please share them with me. The best way to contact me is by e-mail. My work e-mail is mtfdrbg1@mcd911.net. This as a spam filter on it that will kick your first e-mail back to you. It will ask you to type a specific set of characters into the subject field and send it back. Once you have done this it will never have to be done again.
My home e-mail is
bobg1121@yahoo.com. I check this when I can; too many people at home and
not enough computers
.
I can also be reached by cell phone at 231-206-5267 or at home at 231-744-1241.
Both numbers have voice mail or answering machine and I do return calls as I
can.
It is going to be a great year! Thanks in advance for helping out.
